project brief | Rednock School was selected by Gloucester County Council for BSF Single School Pathfinder funding, which facilitated a campus- wide refurbishment and new state of the art teaching facilities. The existing campus featured a number of unsuitable buildings and the site included large areas of contaminated ground and was home to a variety of protected species.
The new building provides flexible teaching accommodation, tailored for a school with specialist Science status, a growing Sixth Form and a vision for Transformational Learning. The light filled and versatile atria facilitate extended use and community involvement.
Careful and considered detailing of a complex palette of materials allows the building to assert itself as the heart of the new school community, whilst integrating into the surrounding landscape. The project successfully achieved BREEAM Excellent and won the RIBA Wessex Award.
