project brief | The Grand Prix Racewear Headquarters at Silverstone Circuit comprises of a trade showroom, offices and warehouse facilities.
Grand Prix Racewear is one of two buildings developed on the site and is situated to allow glimpses of the prominent splayed wall and glazed entrance from Dadford Road. Grand Prix Racewear and the Innovation Building are the first two buildings to be completed within the new Advanced Technology Park, setting the precedent for future development on the site.
The building is a dynamic, iconic and contemporary piece of architecture that reflects the excitement, speed and high technology of the motor sport industry. The splayed elevation reflects the speed and fluidity of movement connected to the motor sport industry. The walls and roof merge into one single flowing form, setting an impression that the building is not static.
The building is clad with a twin skin metal profiled sheet that wraps continuously from the walls to the roof. The glazed front elevation is the main focal point of the building and creates a stunning view of the interior display area. Vertical wire mesh fins provide a feature to the curtain walling.
The trade showroom is a double height space flooded with natural daylight. A mezzanine level is accessed via an elegant steel stair, with brushed stainless steel handrail and tension wire balustrades. Clean, crisp, sharp lines and attention to detail within the display area emphasise the simplistic form, creating an aesthetic that complements the motor sport industry.
