project brief | The Flex Tech Units at Silverstone Race Circuit form part of the next phase of the new Advanced Technology Park, sitting alongside the Innovation Building and Grand Prix Racewear. The scheme includes the bespoke development of two research and development units, both intended for new start-up companies within the motorsport industry.
Each building offers flexibility to enable the larger units to be divided into a mix of large and small individual units each with their own separate entrance. These units have the potential to provide the next step for a start-up business, following occupation within the Innovation Building.
The contemporary design reflects the pallet of materials used across the technology park. The Kalwall façade provides a translucent skin, allowing filtered light to flood into the entrance and office areas during the day. At night the whole façade glows, creating a bold visual statement when viewed from the Dadford Road.
Both units were delivered on time and within budget.
